NEW FAIRFIELD — After working his approach up the ranks during the last a number of years, Paul Gouveia now finds himself in command of overseeing all the college district’s expertise wants.
The Board of Training just lately voted to nominate the New Fairfield resident to the place of expertise director.
“I’m honored and intensely glad to get began,” Gouveia mentioned following the college board’s Thursday night vote.
As expertise director, Gouveia — who began his new function Friday — mentioned he’s chargeable for overseeing planning, implementation and upkeep of expertise for the faculties, in addition to the city.
Superintendent Kenneth Craw mentioned expertise director is a “vital place,” and he’s assured in Gouveia’s skills.
“Once I see his references and listen to from folks about what he did (throughout COVID) to maintain us going when it comes to the community and alternatives for distance studying, that’s to be recommended,” Craw mentioned throughout Thursday’s faculty board assembly. “Having earned the respect and admiration of colleagues, he’s able to tackle this function.”
Gouveia has served the college district in numerous technology-related capacities during the last 5 years.
After working as a community administrator for the Presray Company in Pawling, N.Y., he turned a technician at New Fairfield Excessive Faculty in Might 2017.
In February 2018, Gouveia mentioned he did a stint as interim director of expertise and assumed the function of broadcast coordinator.
5 months later, he was promoted to community administrator for the Board of Training — a job that was later prolonged to incorporate community administration on the city stage as properly.
Gouveia mentioned it’s an honor to be chosen for the expertise director place and he’s “very glad” to proceed working in New Fairfield.
