GRUNDY, Va. (AP) — Democrat Terry McAuliffe and Republican Glenn Youngkin are set to sq. off in Virginia‘s first gubernatorial debate of the final election season, in a race that’s being carefully watched as a doable indicator of voter sentiment heading into the 2022 nationwide midterm elections.

The 2 candidates are set to fulfill Thursday night time on the Appalachian College of Regulation in Grundy, a tiny city in conservative southwest Virginia. It is the primary of two gubernatorial debates to be held earlier than the Nov. 2 election. The second debate is deliberate for Sept. 28 at a neighborhood school in liberal-leaning northern Virginia.
