AUBURN, Ala. – Former Auburn swimmer Maggie Bowen-Hanna was inducted into the Mississippi Sports activities Corridor of Fame on Saturday.
Bowen-Hanna swam at Auburn from 1999-2003 and was named the SEC Swimmer of the 12 months in 2001, 2002 and 2003. She was a 21-time All-American, a nine-time NCAA champion and a 16-time SEC champion. She led the Tigers to back-to-back NCAA crew championships, together with Auburn’s first ladies’s nationwide championship in any sport in 2002.
In 2001, Bowen-Hanna turned Auburn swimming’s first feminine World Champion with a victory within the 200 IM on the 2001 FINA World Championships.
Reflecting on her time at Auburn whereas attending the NCAA Girls’s Championships in March, Bowen-Hanna stated the factor she remembers most is “profitable.”
“That was essentially the most memorable half,” she stated. “It was simply the most effective time. Working so arduous collectively for a purpose, feeling so purposeful. You had lots of religion in your teammates and belief and camaraderie. It was nice. The glory years.”
Bowen-Hanna was inducted into the Auburn S&D Corridor of Fame in 2013.
