Three places in Cambria County might quickly have an financial uptick.

County officers are making use of for places in Jackson Township, Johnstown and Richland to qualify as Keystone Alternative Zones, and if accredited, properties in these areas would profit from tax exemptions.

“We predict these are glorious places, and we expect they’re very viable for financial improvement in Cambria County,” stated Renee Daly, govt director of the Redevelopment Authority of Cambria County.

The purpose of the Keystone Alternative Zones, county officers stated, is to lure firms into the choose areas and create potential plazas of companies.

Daly stated an utility is being submitted later this month to the Division of Neighborhood and Financial Growth, and native officers predict a call from Gov. Tom Wolf by December.

The appliance contains 60 acres close to Route 22 in Jackson Township, 132 acres on the Richland airport and 117 acres in Johnstown.

“These areas are ripe for development,” Cambria County President Commissioner Tom Chernisky stated. “The Keystone Alternative Zones have the potential to bolster financial exercise on the websites chosen.”

If accredited, the deal would happen over a 10-year window starting in January.

“We’re undecided if we’re going to be accredited, however now we have three events which can be financial improvement drivers,” Daly stated. “We’re very hopeful it is going to be a profitable utility.”
