COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., (KRDO) – The Colorado Springs Police Division introduced out their SWAT van to distribute sports activities balls to native youth as a part of 7-Eleven’s Project A-Game. 

Venture A-Recreation is a neighborhood outreach program created to develop significant relationships by way of youth locally and officers by way of sports activities.

Tuesday, this system donated a $711 grant to the Colorado Springs Police Division. That donation goes in the direction of their PLAY COS program, which provides officers with sports activities gear to present out to children and teenagers throughout their shifts.

“The donation goes in the direction of the neighborhood interacting with the police division, they simply get to speak to them and have a enjoyable time with the folks defending our neighborhood,” stated 7-Eleven Basic Supervisor on North Academy, Jillian Dryer.

By this initiative, the police division needs children to know officers are specializing in defending them and the neighborhood.

“Our job is not to lock children up, our job is to get them on the precise path and thru that undertaking, hopefully, we will hold connecting with these children,” stated Sgt. Jason Newton with the Colorado Springs Police Division.

Venture A-Recreation will probably be making a $711 grant to the PLAY COS program, the place officers take time to attach with youth by way of taking part in sports activities collectively. Officers, together with the chief, will participate in a presentation.

Inside the previous couple of months, PLAY COS gave away greater than 550 sports activities balls to children throughout Colorado Springs.

In honor of the donation, folks can obtain a free Slurpee on the 7Eleven on North Academy till 11 p.m. Tuesday.
