SPRINGFIELD — An accused killer and his lawyer are asking for a second opinion on his competency to face trial.
Clark County Prosecutors say Emil Witherspoon shot and killed his ex-girlfriend’s present boyfriend, then shot and wounded his ex-and two kids at a Speedway this summer time.
Witherspoon is accused of taking pictures Antoine Crooks, then taking pictures and wounding Tiffany Brugler and two kids, together with Crooks’ son. Springfield police stated the motive was home violence.
Witherspoon has pleaded “not responsible by motive of madness,” and a forensic psychologist evaluated him on September 22, based on on-line courtroom information. Now his protection lawyer is asking for a second medical opinion about his competency to face trial.
Information Middle 7 checked with the Clark County Clerk of Courtroom’s Workplace and they don’t have a replica of Witherspoon’s first analysis on file.
Any medical professionals who consider Witherspoon as part of this course of need to submit their findings to the courtroom in a written report.
The choose will then assessment these experiences and determine throughout a competency listening to whether or not Witherspoon is competent to face trial.
